We are busy spreading more Christmas cheer! Tonight my kids and I sang at The Willows, another retirement home. We entertained the residents while they ate dinner and then joined a few of them for a slice of banana cream pie. Yum!!

Garden City Police Dept and N. Ada Cty Fire & Rescue with Mrs. Meridian

Yesterday, my family and I took part in the 13th Annual Christmas Gift Giving to those families in need in Garden City. We took truck loads of food, presents and furniture to 10 families in Garden City who otherwise wouldn't have been able to provide for their families. The Garden City Police Department and the North Ada County Fire & Rescue took police cruisers and fire engines with lights and sirens to deliver the presents. They were also able to pay over $1300 in utilities for those families who otherwise wouldn't have had electricity this Christmas. This is the second year our family has participated and it is quite the experience. Here are a couple of pictures of me with my daughters, one with Santa, a picture of me with my husband Tim and lastly one of a group of the volunteers. Hope ya'll have a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you very soon!

We wrapped up our holiday fun today at the Ridgewind Retirement home in Chubbuck. One of my voice students, Nettie Jo joined me along with my kids to sing and visit with the residents. Nettie did a beautiful job singing Jingle Bells. We also got to visit with some of the the residents pets! This was quite the treat for the kids. One sweet man requested we take a picture with his dog Gracie. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Over the weekend I swayed Amy Mrs. Eagle to rise and shine early (with a cup of coffee) on Saturday the 19th to help me deliver two large trucks full of homemade desserts. The Boise Rescue Mission received 30 desserts delivered by Mrs. Boise and Mrs. Eagle. It was great to be able to help make the Mission’s Christmas banquet a success and put a smile on so many people’s faces in our community.

Ellon Mrs. Rexburg and I went to the Bonaventure Retirement home in Idaho Falls Saturda. Ellon, her friend Melanie, and I shared a few Christmas songs. Then our kids won them over with a couple songs of their own. I love visiting with those that have had years of experience. We asked about some of their Christmas traditions and a sweet women shared a fun one from her childhood. She said every Christmas her dad would dissapear to go milk the cow in the barn and while he was gone Santa would come and they had to sing for him. Santa would leave and then her Dad would return and they would tell him what he missed out on. It was very cute. We had a great time and the sweet little ladies we met were great!

Blackfoot's Christmas Tree Fantasy

My family and I participated in Blackfoot's Christmas Tree Fantasy! Local business's and other organizations donate a decorated tree and local artist's preform while people in the community walk around and look at the trees. Three of my voice students preformed earlier this week and My kids and I preformed for about a 1/2 and hour today. We had a great time and we made sure to visit Santa and put in our requests before we left!

Middleton Holiday Parade

Hey Mandi,

Here are some pictures from the Middleton parade which was held a few hours after the Meridian parade. I rode on top of our Suburban which was fun! The kidos threw candy canes out the windows to the kids and I did my waving and Merry Christmasing from the top. It was cold but the heaters in the Suburban kept my feet and legs warm! We had a great turn out despite the cold and everyone seemed to have had a good time. All in all it was a fun afternoon especially having my family there with me!

Meridian Holiday Parade

Today was the Meridian Holiday Parade, the weather was really cold and windy today but our very gracious queens made the rounds and visited with other parade participants and smiled throughout the entire parade route. In attendance Mrs. Idaho America 2009 Jamie Hilton, Mrs. Boise Sondra, Mrs. Eagle Amy, Mrs. Middleton Tammy and Mrs. Nampa Rachel. Thank you to my Dad Mike for driving the float, Alyson and Gracesyn for being great helpers in the car, Susan, Sher and Kimberly for handing out flyers about the Mrs. Idaho America Pageant and candy canes for all the kids.

Today was the Boise Holiday Parade. We could not have asked for nicer weather. Last night 32,000 plus BSU Football fans got rained on and I hoped our beautiful queens would have better weather and Mother Nature provided with a glorious sunny morning. We all had a lot of fun and Larry Gebert from KTVB News Channel 7 was on hand to interview Jamie Mrs. Idaho America 2009 and Juliet Mrs. Emmett 2010.

Jamie Hilton Mrs. Idaho America 2009 and our beautiful 2010 Mrs. Idaho Delegates rode on a float designed especially for them. Special thanks to my Dad Mike, my Mom Sher, and my Sister Susan, the four of us designed, built, painted and decorated the float. Each delegated decorated her own box to add her own special touch to the float. It was a group effort that shined this morning in Boise.

Watch for the Mrs. Idaho America Ladies as they will be taking part in the Meridian Holiday Parade next week.

Today was the fall workshop for the 2010 workshop. 10 lovely married ladies were in attendance and our reigning Mrs. Idaho America Jamie Hilton. The staff had a great time helping the ladies learn about everything from generating sponsors, to fitness, to gowns, to walking patterns. We all had a great time getting to know one another and are looking forward to the pageant. This dinner was on the same night as the Boise State Broncos vs. Oregon Ducks opening season game. The Boise State Broncos were the victors. No one was harmed in the taking of this photo, however the Ducks did feel some pain as they lost to our awesome BRONCOS!

The ladies went out to dinner at a local Mexican Food restaurant. The Mrs. Idaho Board went and ate there one day and it was GREAT!

Supporting Our Dear Friend Jackie Walker Mrs. Idaho 2008

Several ladies that are members of the Mrs. Idaho family came together in support of our dear friend Jackie Walker Mrs. Idaho America 2008 who recently lost her wonderful husband Justin Walker Mr. Idaho 2008 in a tragic plane crash. We all love Jackie and will miss her very charismatic husband Justin.

As the Director of the Mrs. Idaho pageant I was once again reminded that the Mrs. Idaho ladies are not only beautiful on the outside but even more beautiful on the inside as they have rallied in support of Jackie and her family and another one of our Mrs. Idaho family members that is battling cancer.

Last night was the send off party for Jamie to head off to the Mrs. America Pageant. Jamie leaves on September 1st, Interviews are on September 6th, preliminary competion is September 7th, and the finals are September 8th. Lot of current and former titles were in attendance to with Jamie the best of luck as she proudly represents Idaho at the national Mrs. America Pageant. Jamie was very thankful for the love and support shown by her family, friends and Mrs. Idaho family.

Over Memorial Day weekend 8 fabulous ladies made the trip over to Washington to watch the 2009 Mrs. Washington America Pageant. Jamie Hilton Mrs. Idaho America 2009, Joelle Rankins Goodwin Mrs. Oregon America 2009, Mandi Feely Idaho's Director, Libby Crawford Oregon's Director, Sher Finke, Susan Marler, Kimberly Mulkey and Anna Lamb all made the trip. Libby let all of us stay at her home in Washington we had a great time visiting, laughing a lot, and watching the pageant. We can't wait to make it a tradition a go again next year. Thank you to Libby for opening her home to a crazy bunch of ladies from Idaho. The Idaho Gang loves their Mrs. America Family from Oregon.

Every Friday at lunch I take an hour to mentor some amazing 5th grade girls using the Uniquely Me program. This fantastic program helps the girls understand why we have standards and values in our relationship, our friends and ourselves. The past few weeks we worked on a project called “Ladies under construction.” The girls bring awareness to the values, morals and standards that they are building to be contributing ladies of their communities. We have a saying in our meetings that is taken from a poem: As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

Sonya just emailed me about her 2nd grades project with Flat Stanley here is what she told me:

In my classroom we have started the "Flat Stanley" project. Flat Stanley is a book by Jeff Brown and in the story the little boy gets flattened out and is able to travel all around in an envelope! Our class gets to decorate their own Flat Stanley's and send him
to work with their parents, to friends or relatives across the US, or just to interesting people they know. I got an exciting package in the mail yesterday from another school in Boise... it was a Flat Stanley that wanted to hang out with MRS. TREASURE VALLEY! Since my class is doing the same project, I brought him to my school and showed my students. Our classroom's Flat Stanley got to meet the "Boise Flat Stanley" and we had a great time filling out his journal. We attended the game with other BBBS matches from the program and boy can those kids get excited. Sonya attended a local pageant for the Miss Idaho America Scholarship Organization here is what she had to say.

Yesterday I had the honor of attending a local pageant for Miss Idaho America. There were originally 12 girls and 5 titles were awarded. I was able to spend some time chatting with he darling Miss Idaho, Elise Davis. She shared some of her great stories from Miss America and we were able to talk about all of the positive aspects of pageantry. Every contestant did great and the girls were ever encouraging in their fun personalities, wonderful talents, and willing attitude to make a positive difference in our world. The Miss Idaho pageant in June will be a great show!

Tonight we had a fun family pizza party for all of the 2009 Mrs. Idaho Delegates at Smoky Mountain Pizza in Meridian. The husbands had a chance to meet and the ladies as always had a great time visiting. We filled the entire east wing of Smoky Mountain, close to 60 of us attended with husbands, and kids. It was a crazy but a lot of fun the kids played, everyone socialized it was a great chance to get to know everyone better before the pageant in just 3 short weeks. As I pioneer my way through technology for the Caldwell School District (being the lead teacher to start and utilize a class website to get parents more involved) I can't help but focus on what got me here in the first place... goal-setting. I wanted to find a way to help parents to feel more comfortable coming into the classroom. With much success our district is planning on incorporating classroom websites for all teachers next year.
In celebration, I couldn't help but share my classroom website success with some of the students of the Caldwell School District. We discussed what a goal is, how to choose the right types of goals, and how to follow through with a goal so that you can accomplish it. My classroom website was a great example to demonstrate that goals don't have to be huge, they don't have to be spectacular, they just have to be yours.
I am now writing a grant for the Caldwell School District to bring technology into low income areas. Success starts with a goal and ends with the pursuit.

Today Tammy Nichols Mrs. Middleton emailed me and here is what she told me about The Middleton Unpluged Event:

The city of Middleton dedicated the month of March for Middleton Unplugged. The purpose of Middleton Unplugged was to "unplug" your family and yourself and "plug" back into each other and to take the month of March and reconnect as a family. Each day of the month had suggested activities or local events for everyone to participate in that did not involve any electronic devices.These are some pictures of me participating in the Middleton Unplugged community carnival that was held on March 28th at one of our local elementary schools. There were several different activity booths for the the kids. My family was in-charge of 2 booths, balloon darts and hula hooping. There were numerous people and children that came and everyone had a great time. I was in charge of the dart booth and had many opportunities to talk with those who attended as well as to pose for some pictures.Thanks,Tammy

Blythe Johnston Mrs. Ada County - Special Olympics Winter Games

Blythe Johnston Mrs. Ada County is a huge supporter of the Special Olympics as she has a special needs son. Blythe hosted a team and was very involved during the games. I will posted more information when I get it from Blythe.

As a reminder this year the Mrs. Idaho America Pageant has elected to support the Special Olympics by having all funds raised as a result of the peoples choice votes will be donated to the Idaho Special Olympics. The Idaho Special Olympics has seen a 24% increase in participation as a result of the Winter Games but has not received additional funds because of the games. So the Mrs. Idaho America Staff felt this was a worthy cause.

Komen fashion show, Alexandra & I sped over to Two Rivers for her Locks for Love appointment. 103.3 FM was there as well as Mrs. Boise International and Miss Idaho International 2007. Alexandra has asked me for 2 years to donate her hair for Locks for Love and we finally did it! She cut 9 inches! She loves her new haircut and is thrilled someone else can enjoy her donated locks. All of these ladies modeled in today's fashion show. The weather was perfect for the fashion show and all of the ladies looked beautiful.

Today was the Susan G. Komen Fashion Show, the contestants and reigning queens have been a part of this fundraiser for several years. The ladies always look great and do so far a great cause, breast cancer awareness and hopefully someday a cure.

I'm so thrilled with all the "connections" that are made during the pageant process. Bobbi Fuller is the designer for the post-mastectomy clothes. Miriam Adamson is the seamstress. Now in its twelfth year, the program focuses on motivating children to read, in addition to helping them master basic skills.The nationwide reading celebration takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, community centers, and more participate by bringing together kids and books, and you can too!Your reading event can be as simple or elaborate as time and inclination allow. Sonya Hoadley Mrs. Treasure Valley is a 2nd Grade Teacher for the Caldwell School District. and is helping MENC get the word out about Music Education in Schools. The Mrs. America Pageant is also a huge supporter and partner of MENC. Here are ways you can help in your school.

The 3 ways to change music education in our schools. 1) Collect 1 million signatures by June to deliver to the Secretary of Education to keep music in public education. 2) Collect spare change because, "It makes cents to support music education." Sonya is trying to raise $1000 to support music education outreach and awareness. 3) Music Education Week rally in Washington, DC June 17-23. Here is what she had to say: Last night, Steve & I attended The Chef & Gourmet Gala fundraiser benefiting Boise Philharmonic. The annual fundraiser featured French cuisine, live & silent auctions and entertainment. We had a wonderful time eating, bidding, and socializing with great friends. It was a HUGE success! The Boise Philharmonic is a great asset to our area and a true joy to hear. Please go if you have the chance!

Megan with the Tea Pot she bid on and won during the live auction at Dress for Success. The tea pot was designed by the Women of Steel in Garden City, Idaho.

Megan Bryant Mrs. Boise is a volunteer for Dress for Success. Megan invited all of the Mrs. Idaho ladies to come to the event. In attendance and in the photo above Mrs. Tri-Counties Sondra LaVoie, Erika Wonacott Mrs. Meridian, Dixie Sipe Mrs. Kuna, Angie Williams Mrs. Southern Idaho, Jackie Walker Mrs. Idaho 2008 and Megan Bryant Mrs. Boise (also in attendance was Deborah Viehweg Mrs. Eagle and Blythe Johnston). Megan also invited the Mrs. Idaho staff to attend, Susan Marler, Sher Finke and I had a great time at the event.

The event was a Tea and this year Jackie Mrs. Idaho 2008 was a celebrity at the event and auctioned off a tea pot she designed along with other fun items, Jackie's tea pot went for $400.

Today was the 2009 Pageant Workshop at Oxford Suites in Boise, Idaho. The workshop was a huge success, the ladies learned the walking patterns, had a chance to mock interview, learn about wardrobe, accessories, costume competition, and this years official Mrs. Idaho America charity the Idaho Special Olympics. All funds raised with the peoples choice vote pageant night will be donated to the Idaho Special Olympics. This year the Idaho Special Olympics has seen a 24% increase in participation and needs the donation of time and financial resources. The response from the 2009 delegates is awesome they are excited to volunteer their time.

On 2/14/09 Mrs. Southern Idaho Angie Williams hosted a Turbo Kick Boxing class that Mrs. Boise Megan Bryant and Mrs. Tri-Counties Sondra LaVoie attended.

Sondra sent the picture to me and said that the class was a blast with all the dance music and it was a great work out. Angie is a great teacher and is in great shape.

Mrs. Treasure Valley Sonya Hoadley attended the Special Olympic Winter Games Festivities. Here is what Sonya had to say: My sister, mother, nephew, and I were so blessed by our visit to the Special Olympics playground! We mingled with athletes and fans and even recorded a video to show our support of all of the amazing athletes. The Special Olympics were founded in 1968 by J.F.K.'s sister and were modeled after the World Olympics. These games are just one more example of how setting a goal and working hard for it can stretch you beyond your wildest dreams. The Special Olympics now serve more than 1 million athletes in over 140 countries! Learn more at their official website: www.specialolympics.org. My family & I went there this weekend and had a wonderful time! After I posed for this picture, my son & and I started walking away, when I heard "Hey, Mrs. Southern Idaho!" These two wonderful ladies asked me to take a picture. Read on to see...The 2nd pic, I am standing with Karen, who I had the pleasure of meeting! Karen is a Special Olympian Snowshoer from Denver. She was very excited that her team beat their best recorded time (placed previously in Denver). She was a true joy to meet! We had a great time chatting. She really brightened my day!!!

Mrs. Treasure Valley Sonya Hoadley has been having a blast working with a group of Caldwell kids on goal-setting. Some of them aspire to be mothers and fathers, teachers, doctors, and one boy is SURE he is going to be President! She has been working with them to start discovering what a goal is and how to pick an appropriate goal. The kids then chose their own goals and made a collage to represent what they are working towards. We can't wait to see them reach for the stars!

Mrs. Treasure Valley Sonya Hoadley and her husband Joey are mentors for CFES (College for Every Student) again this year. We met with our mentees to work on goal-setting and encourage them in their college-bound planning. Hope all is well and look forward to seeing you soon!

Mrs. Southern Idaho Angie Williams has been making hair bows & bands for girls undergoing chemo. On January 27, she donated hair bows & headbands to Jessica with Child Life at St. Luke's in Boise.

Angie Williams Mrs. Southern Idaho volunteers almost every Friday at Victory Charter School where her children attend school. Last week she read "Green Eggs and Ham" for "G Week" to the Kindergarten class. Angie's oldest daughter Alexandra, is in the class.

Mrs. Rexburg at Several Appearances

Ellon Chase Mrs. Rexburg was Mistress of Ceremonies at the 2008 Rexburg Festival of Lights. Where they lit up the Christmas tree on Main Street, they had a caroling parade and live musical performances.

While at the elementary School Ellon Mrs. Rexburg read books to the kids while parents bid on gift baskets being auctioned off to raise funds for a new playground.

Ellon helped wrap presents for the Mayors Youth Advisory Board for the "Shop with a Copy" program. The program lets children buy gifts for their families who are struggling financially during the holiday season.

Ellon was also a model for a Mary Kay Glamor clinic for one of her pageant sponsors. We love our sponsors who support the ladies of the Mrs. Idaho pageant.

Saturday the 6th was the Meridian Holiday Parade, it was a beautiful day for a parade and Meridian Chamber of Commerce always does a great job organizing and keeping the parade flowing along. In attendance for the parade was Mrs. Idaho America 2008 Jackie Walker, her daughters Alesha & Hallie, Mrs. Kuna Dixie Sipe, Mrs. Meridian Erika Wonacott, Mrs. Tri-Counties Sondra LaVoie, Mrs. Ada County Blythe Johnston, and Mrs. Bannock County Brandi Townsend.

Mrs. Treasure Valley 2009 Sonya Hoadley at Shop for a Cop

Mrs. Treasure Valley Sonya Hoadley attended Shop with a Cop. Officers from around the Treasure Valley all met at a local church to meet the kids chosen to go shopping. We all had breakfast together and then formed a big parade, lights and sirens and all, and drove to K-mart. The kids were able to spend $150 picking out gifts for their family. It was a blast and a true blessing to be involved.

The Mrs. Idaho America Pageant is the official state preliminary to the nationally televised Mrs. America Pageant now celebrating its 31st anniversary.

The 2009 Mrs. Idaho America pageant will be held on April 24th-25th. The new winner will be crowned by Mrs. Idaho America 2008 Jackie Walker on the stage at Capital High School in Boise, Idaho.

The Mrs. America Pageant is the longest running pageant honoring America’s 65 million married women. Mrs. Idaho America 2009 will join ladies from across the United States, all delegates that attend Mrs. America must win their state titles and can only attend the Mrs. America Pageant one time.

The Mrs. Idaho America pageant attracts married woman with a wide range of professional credentials. Participants are stay-at-home moms, teachers, real estate professionals, doctors and much more. Eighty percent of the ladies who enter are first-time participants. Contestants have ranged in age from 18-62. You are never to young or old to follow your dreams!

We are looking for ladies that are beautiful and healthy inside and out. Our goal is to run a fair and honest quality pageant while providing a nurturing atmosphere to all of its participants. You will have a great experience and meet new friends that will last a lifetime. You will share your love of marriage, family and community service. You can do the pageant for the excitement, self-confidence, the incentive to get in shape, and to learn more about yourself. Whatever your reason enter the pageant, you deserve it!
